"Company Garden Chronicles: A Comprehensive Look at Design, Restoration, and Maintenance Updates"

MARCH 26TH 2024

The flower beds are bursting with growth and the scent of various early blooms fills the air. The vegetable, herb & kitchen gardens are eagerly awaiting transplanted glasshouse seedlings. The fruit trees are bearing an abundance of buds & flowers, ready to be bear fruit. The fruit bushes are starting to show signs of growth, promising a bountiful harvest in the growing season ahead. The wildlife is also flourishing in the gardens, with a variety of birds, butterflies, and bees visiting the flowers and plants. We have also noticed an increase in the number of hedgehogs, frogs, and squirrels, which we have been encouraging with the addition of some special habitats. It is truly a joy to see the gardens teeming with life and we are constantly finding ways to make it even more inviting.

As for the future plans, the gardens will always be a work in progress and we look forward to sharing the growth and beauty through photography, videography & blogs with all of you.

For those who have been eagerly awaiting updates on our gardens, we are pleased to report that they are thriving and flourishing despite the challenges we have faced.

The Riverside Embankment

The riverside embankment has held up well, ensuring that our landscape remains intact. However, until the flood season has fully passed, we are being cautious with our landscaping plans and are instead focusing on preventing future erosion by introducing propagated cuttings from last season.

The Lawn Restoration

In terms of our lawn restoration, we are happy to report that it is coming along beautifully. The turf is growing evenly and strong thanks to regular top dressing and seeding. We take great pride in maintaining a sleek and healthy lawn, and this season is no exception.

Orchard gardens

Orchard gardens has seen some subtle changes to allow for a presentable growing season ahead; stump removal, tree reductions, soil rotation/levelling & seeding. With a garden build & planting shortly on its way.

Hamlease

Over the past six months, there have been some significant changes in Hamlease gardens, with a major focus on clearance. We have worked hard to revamp existing herbaceous borders, lawns, woodlands, and ferneries. This has involved reducing hedges and trees, rotating soil, and removing roots. We have also added compost and leaf mould bays to prepare for the upcoming growing season. While

clearance is soon to pause, maintenance will continue to ensure our gardens remain vibrant and beautiful.

The Rectory

The Rectory’s gardens are getting to its final stages of catch up throughout herbaceous borders, splitting & dividing, pruning, mulching, feeding, weeding etc, perimeter hedges & large/dangerous trees are being reduced, all lawns have had a weed & feed application in preparation for the first cut, new planting schemes are being introduced to existing in coming weeks.

Farm Gardens

The farm’s garden in particular this winter has seen endless hours throughout - all wildflower meadows restored, herbaceous borders reorganised, woodland rejuvenation, new herbaceous planting introduced, herb gardens restored, glasshouse prep, jet washing & repointing driveways, courtyards & patios alongside general maintenance & upkeep.

In the our gardens, flower beds are bursting with life. The variety of blooms is a testament to our passion and dedication to creating a diverse and stunning display.

As the winter chill fades away, the anticipation and excitement for the coming summer season in our display gardens builds. These carefully curated and meticulously maintained spaces are a sight to behold during this time of year, as they come to life with vibrant colours, mesmerising scents, and a sense of tranquility that can only be found in a garden.

However, these gardens don't just magically transform themselves overnight. Months of hard work, dedication, and planning has gone into creating and restoring these spaces to their former glory this winter. As the gardens begin to take shape, the true artistry and creativity of the gardeners come to light. Every plant, flower, and tree is carefully chosen and arranged in a way that creates a harmonious blend of colours, textures, and scents.

The gardens require a deep understanding of the different plant species and their individual needs. Being able to take into account factors such as sun exposure, soil conditions, and water requirements to ensure that each plant thrives in its designated spot. In addition to selecting and arranging the perfect plants, carefully designing and constructing structures to enhance the overall aesthetic of the gardens and provide a tranquil space for visitors to enjoy. This requires not just technical skills but also a keen eye for aesthetics and the ability to envision the end result.

As the final touches are put in place and the garden begins to bloom, the work is far from over. Throughout the summer season, the gardens must constantly be tended, ensuring they receive the right amount of water, sunlight, and nutrients. They also need to monitor for any pests or diseases that could harm the plants and take quick action to protect the garden.

But the hard work and dedication of the team doesn’t go unnoticed. As visitors are drawn in by the vibrant colours and delightful scents of the garden, they are in awe of the beauty that has been created. The display gardens attract a diverse range of visitors who are all captivated by the immense effort that has gone into their creation.

In conclusion, as we eagerly await the arrival of the Spring & summer season in the display gardens, it's important to recognise the incredible work that goes on behind the scenes to transform and restore these spaces. The gardeners’, landscapers & builders dedication, skill, and passion are reflected in the natural beauty that radiates from every corner of the gardens. So as we walk through these gardens, let us admire not just the blooming flowers and colourful landscape, but also the hard work and artistry that has brought it all to life.
